The Rohtak district administration has launched a groundbreaking initiative called Ayushman Sarathi, aiming to revolutionize healthcare access for its citizens. This ambitious program seeks to eliminate barriers and ensure that every eligible individual receives the healthcare benefits they deserve under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Chirayu Haryana schemes.
What makes Ayushman Sarathi truly remarkable is its focus on transforming hospitals into more than just treatment centers. Instead, they become active healthcare facilitators, patient support partners, and frontline implementation stakeholders. This shift in role is crucial, as it empowers hospitals to actively assist eligible citizens in accessing treatment without any procedural hurdles.
During a review meeting, Sachin Gupta, the Deputy Commissioner, emphasized the initiative's core objective: to ensure that no eligible citizen is denied treatment due to a lack of information, procedural complexity, or the absence of an Ayushman card. To achieve this, he directed all empanelled hospitals to take several key steps.
Firstly, hospitals must prominently display information about Ayushman eligibility criteria, available treatment packages, patients' rights, helpdesk contact details, and helpline numbers. This proactive approach ensures that citizens are immediately informed about their entitlements upon arrival, empowering them to make informed decisions.
Secondly, real-time eligibility verification at the hospital level is a critical feature of Ayushman Sarathi. Hospitals are now required to immediately check the Ayushman eligibility status of every incoming patient requiring treatment. This swift verification process prevents delays and ensures that eligible patients receive the care they need without unnecessary paperwork.
In cases where a patient is found eligible but does not possess an Ayushman card, hospitals have been directed to actively coordinate with the concerned authorities for immediate card facilitation and treatment access. This proactive approach ensures that medical care is not delayed due to documentation gaps, further streamlining the process.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner directed empanelled hospitals to establish dedicated Ayushman Help Desks. These desks are staffed with trained Ayushman Mitras or designated personnel who can efficiently assist beneficiaries. This dedicated support system ensures that patients receive accurate and prompt assistance, enhancing their overall healthcare experience.
Furthermore, Gupta emphasized the importance of doctors, administrative staff, and claim-processing teams being fully conversant with scheme eligibility norms, treatment packages, documentation protocols, and approval workflows. This comprehensive knowledge ensures that beneficiaries receive accurate and prompt assistance, reducing claim rejections due to technical errors, incomplete documentation, or incorrect data entry.
By implementing Ayushman Sarathi, the Rohtak district administration is taking a significant step towards ensuring that public healthcare entitlements translate into real, accessible benefits on the ground.
